by Nancy Ferguson and Ann Doyle
The words we use and live by have a life of their own. They come, they go, they change. Learn what certain words mean in Scripture, and learn to live by the Word of God.
Words, both written and spoken, allow us to communicate, but we do not always read or hear them in the same way. Meanings change over time, and some words really do lose something in translation. What does Abba, Father mean? What is edification? Knowing what words like fellowship, hope, and redeem mean will give you a better understanding of Biblical teaching on salvation and Christian living.
Nancy Ferguson and her husband, Everett, have worshipped with the Hillcrest church in Abilene for more than fifty years. They have three children—Ray (& Star) Ferguson, Ann (& Doug) Doyle, and Pat (& George) Luchs; six grand-children; and one great-grandson. Nancy has spoken at numerous ladies retreats and workshops throughout the U.S. and in Great Britain and Southern Africa. She has taught lectureship classes at Pepperdine, Oklahoma Christian, Nigerian Christian Bible College, Harding University, and Freed Hardeman. Her writings include articles for Gospel Advocate, Church and Family, 21st Century Christian, and Power for Today and two books—Living a Worthy Life and For the Love of the Lord.
The daughter of Everett and Nancy Ferguson, Ann Doyle spent four years at university studying the Bible, and has spent more than forty years living and teaching it as she and her husband, Doug, have ministered to small and mid-sized churches in Michigan and Texas—sometimes in full-time ministry, sometimes with one or both working secular jobs also. They have raised three children, all now adults. Ann blogs at ThetaLadyblog.wordpress.com about lessons learned from studying the Word of God and living the gospel.
